Boutique Hotels in Hua Hin

Hua Hin railway station, ThailandHua Hin rose to prominence in the early 1900s with the arrival of the railway which made for easier access from the capital city of Bangkok. At that time, Hua Hin was little more than a fishing village, but it soon emerged as Thailand's first seaside resort as people from the city discovered the delights of the sea breezes and long, sweeping coast.

The popularity of Hua Hin was helped by the Thai royal family who were regular visitors and in 1936 King Rama VII built his summer palace here and named it Klai Kangwon which translates as 'Far From Worries'.

'Hua Hin' (literally 'head stone') is named after the distinctive rocky outcrop which can be seen on the beach-front close to the Hilton Hotel in central Hua Hin.

Location
Hua Hin beach, ThailandHua Hin is on the Gulf Coast of Thailand, approximately 3 hours' drive south of Bangkok. The city of Hua Hin is relatively compact, but some hotels which describe themselves as being in Hua Hin are, in fact, quite some distance from the centre of the city. This is partly because the main Hua Hin beach is over 7kms long so although your hotel may be close to Hua Hin beach it can still be some distance from the centre of town. On this site we have divided the hotels into distinct locations and provide some background information on that area to help decide if it is right for you or not.

Wherever you choose to stay, getting around is still quite easy with decent public transport in the form of local buses and large tuk-tuks. Some hotels which are a short drive away from central Hua Hin (e.g. Khao Takiab) also provide a shuttle service for guests.
